︎ WINDOWS TO THE WORLD

In this project, I intend to initiate a study on the idea of windows. However, the windows I mentioned here are not limited to real windows: they can be any quality or properties that we associate windows with, like glass, reflections, the square shape, or a sense of openness, etc. Through this project, I want to raise the question of how do we read an image and the elements within it. By juxtaposing the original image with an edited version, I intend to alter or even disturb our perceptions. In the edited images, the differences between the window-like object and the background have become obscured, and the repeated patterns have drastically changed the focus of each image.

During the shooting of this series, I took on the role of a city wanderer and welcomed the restrictions and surprises it has brought me. To me, window is a fascinating object for that it separates the outside and the inside yet at the same time connects these two realms. Some people see the existence of windows as a door to a broader world, while some others see it as a proof for their incarceration within a certain space. It's almost definite that a window would have two sides to it, and so are our life experiences.
